Project idea

The main design topic of high-rise condominiums is the sense of alienation brought by vertical traffic and possible unsafe corners. How to create a vertical settlement with humanistic care is the main topic of this design.

In this design, I expect to break the residential relationship in the high-rise residential buildings where each floor space is cut by the floor, which not only makes the space continuously blocked, but also blocks the possibility of residents interacting with each other.

In the abstraction of the concept, it is attempted to change the direction of gravity and create a surreal vertical living wall which allow residents to freely move, communicate, and face the city. I hope this design can return the freedom of residence to the residents, and redefines the collective living style of high-rise condominiums.

Project description

In the past few decades, the intense growth of population and the change of social structural have led to the continual production of giant buildings in Asia. The height and width of the building expand to the limit of the floor area. Such a large number of homogeneous manufacturing severely limits the autonomous variability of individual residential units.

In design concept, I create a surreal wall and make the street vertical . It is not the gravity which is challenged, but the gravity of the residents. After the vertical distribution of the houses, this design redefine the collective living style of high-rise condominiums. Let residents live on the wall and face the city.

The thick wall of 45 cm is used as a load-bearing structure, and defines the daily life of the residents. From living room, front yard, vertical street, expanded metal lath, balcony, city, I create a spatial level of the outside. Residents will live on the wall as they were living on the street. They can easily communicate with their neighbors and face the city.

The elevator core is placed in the center of the site such as two large pillars, maintaining the distance efficiency to each vertical village. It connects every layer of public space which is different functions and irrelevantIt. And it also highlights the state of the horizontal space segmentation and the vertical transport function.

The residential units are independent to increase the ventilation and lighting area of each room. The raised living room extends outward to the courtyard and is connected to the vertical street. Let the space of life no longer be restricted to the interior, extending the sense of space upwards. Therefore it increases the possibility of interaction with neighbors.

Residents can easily move, talk, live on the wall, and re-facing the city.

Technical information

Base area of 3551 square meters.
The building coverage ratio is 45%, the floor area ratio is 360%, and the building retreat is set to retreat from the road by 4 meters.
Parking for each household, 1 car, 1 locomotive

600 square meters of indoor public space, including hall, saloon, public kitchen, baby care center, laundry, workshop, gym
Residential type A, 1 room type, indoor area 50 square meters, a total of 16 households
Residential type B, 2 room type, indoor area 70 square meters, a total of 52 households
Residential type C, 3 room type, indoor area 90 square meters, a total of 12 households

Need to set up two elevators or more
Two floors of underground parking lot, excavation rate 80%

Structure
Reinforced concrete is used as the main structural material, and the column beam is matched with the load-bearing wall construction system to make the living units independent of each other and have a high degree of plane configuration flexibility.
