Dvojdům U Dvou přátel

Idea projektu

In the heart of Zbraslav, in a quiet new‐build area nestled among existing development, lies an unassuming yet visually striking “island” – the semi-detached house “The Two Friend’s House.” The site, composed of a mix of terraced houses, standalone buildings, and compact developments, generates a spatial tension that the semi-detached house both absorbs and further defines. The home sits on its own plot, bordered on three sides by roads and a public park—an ideal setting for peaceful living. At first glance, the pair of buildings appears simple, but on closer inspection one is drawn to the finely crafted façade details, the contrasts, and the distinct architectural articulation of each half. It’s no surprise—the house is inhabited by two friends who decided to build their homes side by side. The architectural design thus responds not only to the urban context but also to the differing preferences of the two residents, creating a dialogue between the two adjoining homes.

Popis projektu

The aim of this bachelor’s thesis was to design a family house for a four-member household. The project consists of an architectural study and a detailed development of the design up to the building-permit stage. The site is located in a newly emerging district directly adjoining the centre of Prague-Zbraslav. The subdivision of the plot was carried out within the scope of the thesis as part of an urban-planning study, and the design was subsequently adapted for the purposes of this work. The selected plot lies in the southern part of the development, resembling a solitary island enclosed by the surrounding buildings. The proposed building is conceived as a semi-detached house, responding to the specific requirements of both families while maintaining a harmonious overall concept. This sense of harmony is further reinforced by the considered choice of materials.

Technické informace

The load-bearing structure is made of PTH ceramic masonry, complemented by a ceramic–concrete slab. The slab’s stress distribution is transverse, supplemented by reinforced-concrete beams. Designing the structural elements in modular dimensions minimizes on-site cutting, thus ensuring rapid execution and a consistently high level of workmanship.
