Idea projektu
The proposed revitalization of Kokorovský dvur aims to preserve the historic identity of the site - for example, the almost temple-like effect of the arboretum in the torsion corner, drawing attention to the historic arches, roof trusses and original masonry, and creating an eye-catching contrast to the modern features. The revitalized courtyard is designed as a multi-functional space for all ages and year-round outdoor and indoor use. It promotes community and social interaction, creating a "city within a city", giving rise to a new village square that can be used by the local community for new and old traditions . Connecting the courtyard to the surrounding area is also an important aspect, while maintaining the intimacy of the space. The courtyard's mass is restored to its original historical character of a square plan. In doing so, the design seeks to draw attention away from the socialist northern buildings so that the resulting whole appears harmonious while serving as a connected and attractive community hub.
Popis projektu
The reconstruction of the former granary brings a modern use to the historic space. It makes the preserved historical elements stand out in contrast with modern materials and constructions. On the first floor, the space is partitioned by glazing the vaulted passages, preserving an impressive view through the historic vaults while making better use of the room for new functions. The space is intended for clubs and workshops, but its variability means that it can easily be adapted to other functions in the future. Two vertical routes are proposed - one for visitors, the other primarily for staff. A freight elevator is being installed to serve the needs of the theatre company in the third floor and at the same time allows wheelchair access. Overall, the project seeks to integrate the historic context with modern functions, making the former granary a multi-functional center that respects the heritage of the site while providing practical uses for the contemporary community. There are offce cells for rent on the 2nd floor, the income from which will be used to further finance the reconstruction project. The internal environment of the cells is more easily optimised due to their semi-independent insertion between the existing walls. A theatre is planned in the attic overlooking the open roof. The central element of the foyer will be a suspended glass staircase connected to a footbridge, underlining the modern identity of the space. The arboretum is an important element. A viewing platform rises from the gable wall, its inclined plane is fitted with a mirror. There are several mirror columns at ground level. Together, they create a play with reflections and changing space that most shows the effect of the ravages of time on the building, as it is located in a corner that is already in a torsional state.
Technické informace
The construction part of the project focuses on a more detailed solution of the former granary building. The new functional content of the building includes workshop and club spaces on the 1st floor, rentable office cells on the 2nd floor and office space on the 3rd floor in connection with the attic space theatre with a path to the outdoor observation deck. The main structural design features a suspended glass staircase with suspended steel catwalk and a new steel truss with original timber elements. The design solution includes an analysis of the original truss and a proposal for its rehabilitation and connection to the new structure. The structural design of the truss is based on a combination of the application of compliant existing elements and new ones that will allow for a wider use of the attic space. To allow for the suspension of the steel catwalk and glass staircase, load-bearing steel frames are designed on which the steel trusses and timber truss elements are placed. The steel frames also carry steel beams, which are used to anchor the suspension bars for the footbridge structure. The structure of the outdoor viewing platform is formed by steel trusses anchored into the masonry. The roof is fitted with a ridge skylight.
