Idea projektu
The idea of this project is the creation of a four-year grammar school that offers students a place to continue their education in an inspiring and supportive environment. The building encourages social interaction, providing a variety of shared spaces not only within the interior, but also in the form of outdoor areas – including a rooftop terrace and a central courtyard created between the distinct building volumes. The core idea of the design was to divide the programmatic functions of the school into three separate volumes, each serving a different purpose, while still maintaining a strong spatial and functional connection between them. An important part of the concept was also to resolve two primary access routes to the school and to merge them into a unified entrance area, creating a clear and welcoming arrival space for students and visitors alike.

One of the three main volumes is situated along the access road to the underground garage and contains two above-ground floors. The ground floor houses the canteen and buffet, which are oriented towards and open visually into the central courtyard, creating a pleasant and social dining environment. On the upper floor, there are specialized classrooms, such as a music room, language lab, and a study room, from which students can directly access the rooftop terrace. This outdoor space, located above the main entrance, functions as a shared gathering area for students and offers views over the surrounding school grounds. This volume is connected via two elevated bridges to the opposite building, which contains three above-ground floors and is dedicated entirely to general (homeroom) classrooms. The bridges ensure fluent circulation and reinforce the spatial unity of the complex. The third volume consists of the sports hall, which includes two above-ground levels and one underground floor. In the basement, there are technical facilities, changing rooms, and access to the underground parking.The sports hall is functionally independent but still visually and spatially integrated into the overall composition of the school campus.
Technické informace
The load-bearing structure of the building is designed as a combined structural system, primarily using reinforced concrete, which offers an optimal balance between strength, rigidity, and durability for a building of this type. Reinforced concrete is also advantageous in terms of fire resistance and acoustic performance, making it well-suited for educational buildings. The material concept of the school is defined by the use of light fair-faced concrete throughout the main volumes of the building, with timber acoustic panels integrated into the façade system. These panels serve not only an acoustic function within the interior spaces but also provide visual screening from the public exterior, contributing to the overall privacy and shading of classrooms and common areas. The sports hall is designed with a timber façade, which gives it a warmer and more natural appearance, in contrast to the monolithic character of the main volumes. The load-bearing system of the hall is proposed as a timber frame structure, utilizing glulam (glued laminated timber) beams, which can efficiently span large distances while maintaining an aesthetically refined and sustainable expression. This choice also enhances the acoustic and thermal properties of the hall.
