Revitalization of Masaryk Square in Kyjov

Idea projektu

The main intention of the revitalization is to cultivate the city center and return to the original values of the square, so I am removing the parking lot located in the very heart of the square and replacing it with a living area.

Popis projektu

A major intervention is the modification of the existing road - the proposal unidirects the existing road and returns it to its original character, i.e a continuous road passing through the entire square with one turn to Komenského třída street. Relocate the bus stop to the centre of the square to the south side of the road. I am removing the central parking area, retaining the cross parking on the south side of the square. I am proposing a plane tree grove to the east (instead of a detour drop) that allows parking for 24 cars during the day and the space can be opened up to people in the evening. Also, the trees proposed between the cars actively reduce the temperature of the pavement. In the plaza in front of City Hall, I am placing the most valuable space where all important events will take place, and I am adding a permanent pavilion to this space with a periscope facing the City Hall tower. The pavilion will function as a podium, but also as a shelter from rain or sunshine . Within this space, I am moving the Marian column about 10 m closer to the town hall, so that the column will be in a more suitable location for the newly created space, but also compositionally to the Renaissance town hall At the tip of the eastern end of the square they are placing a plane tree grove with a square grid of trees 6x6 m - cars can park between the trees. The grove will be set up for parking from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and then the space can be opened up for people to live, such as a restaurant garden. In the area in front of the community centre I propose a similar space to the plane tree grove - this space will be used for seating and will be as support for variable use for events held in the square.

Technické informace

The new paving in the square will be made of various sizes of chipped granite. The residential pavilion will be made of metal structures and concrete footings. The blue-green infrastructure will contribute positively to the natural growth of the trees and is a kind of analogy to the functioning in a forest, i.e. water that runs down to the roots of one tree can be passed on to another tree, thanks to an elaborate system of drainage pipes that connect the root space of the trees.
