Idea projektu
The project is driven by the idea of transformation — turning a forgotten, fire-damaged castle into a place of memory, light, and cultural renewal. The inspiration comes from the contrast between permanence and fragility: the raw, immovable stone ruins are complemented by a delicate, leaf-like glass roof that breathes new life into the structure. The leaves symbolize nature’s resilience and quiet movement, transforming the heavy architectural mass into a poetic space where history meets the present. The design aims to create a space not only for architectural admiration, but for human connection, reflection, and inspiration. It is a gesture of healing — both for the building and the community around it.
Popis projektu
This project proposes a sensitive yet visionary redevelopment of a fire-damaged historical castle, blending heritage conservation with poetic contemporary intervention. The design reimagines the castle not only as a restored architectural monument but as a living cultural landmark. At the heart of the project is a sculptural glass roof composed of leaf-shaped elements, each uniquely tilted to capture light, shadow, and raindrops — turning nature into an architectural performer. The restored stone structure anchors the past, while the dynamic glass canopy introduces movement, transparency, and renewal. The new roof transforms the central courtyard into an atmospheric, light-filled space for exhibitions, gatherings, and quiet reflection. By merging the permanence of stone with the lightness of glass, this project creates a dialogue between history and modernity, permanence and change. It stands as a symbol of resilience and rebirth, offering a new identity to the castle and a timeless experience to its visitors.
Technické informace
The construction of the building is based on the original stone walls, which are reinforced where necessary. The new roof structure is made of lightweight steel framing and Polymethyl methacrylate , each uniquely curved. Rainwater is managed through hidden drainage integrated into the leaf shapes, and the entire structure is designed for long-term durability and low maintenance.
