Multipurpose Building Križanke

Idea projektu

The main idea behind the design was to create a space where people can meet, create, be themselves, and spend the whole day in peace. In other words, to ensure that all functions are comprehensively provided for. The building respects the urban structure of the surrounding area and continues the clearly defined street space that was missing in this block. The ground floor of the building becomes an active public space. Thanks to its mass and orientation parallel to the street line, it fulfils a noise-proofing function. It protects the open exterior areas from excessive noise, thus creating a quieter and more pleasant environment for visitors. The diagonally designed connecting road and the integrated passage provide a direct connection between the street space and the green areas. This promotes natural pedestrian movement and increases the comfort of users. The proposed building foresees that in the future the park could be connected to the adjacent park (the road is very underused), thus creating a seamless connection between these spaces. The extension of the green area will thus facilitate pedestrian movement and improve the microclimate. The creation of a place where the view of the landmark of Ljubljana and the sunset stands out and elevates people to the canopy of the surrounding mature greenery. Green spaces and mature foliage create recreational space and contribute to improving the microclimate of the neighborhood. In addition to their aesthetic function, they serve as an acoustic barrier and absorb and utilise rainwater better than paved surfaces.

Popis projektu

The building is designed so that functions are separated by floor. The layout emphasizes flexibility, ensuring privacy for people who want to be alone or allowing larger groups to meet. The spaces have flexible partitions that can divide the space. It is possible to rent the spaces if necessary. The individual spaces can be used independently and are not tied to the opening hours of other functions in the building thanks to the exterior staircase, which serves as a communication element to the upper floors, but also as an aesthetic element. An elevator is designed in the interior, including the staircase, for barrier-free access. This entire core is considered a separate unit, passing through all floors, and can also be used when only some of the facilities are open. All large spaces connect directly to the exterior via a vestibule. On the first floor on the east side, there is a café with a bar area in the center of the room. The café has its own restroom and a small kitchen suitable for preparing sandwiches, desserts, and other small dishes to accompany coffee or, in the evening, a drink. The space is open across two floors and flows freely into the second floor, where there is a staircase. In the second part of the first floor, there is a bistro, also with its own bathroom facilities and kitchen for preparing and heating delivered meals. The space is single-story and has various types of seating. On the second floor, there is a co-working space with a reception area, kitchenette, and separate bathroom facilities. The space is completely flexible, equipped with dividing partitions that can be used to separate the space or, conversely, to pull the partitions into the designed boxes. The design also includes meeting rooms for private calls or meetings. There is also a designated relaxation area. On the top floor, there is a proposed yoga studio with a reception area, changing rooms, and restrooms. One large space can also be separated by partitions. In the case of multiple classes at once or larger events, the exhibition spaces can be used, which are also adapted for this purpose and can be divided as desired. The exhibition spaces in the western part of the third floor are available for rent, but are primarily used for exhibitions, training courses, and smaller cultural events. All floors are connected by an interior staircase and elevator. An exterior staircase is also designed to connect all floors.

Technické informace

The building has a reinforced concrete column support system with a rigid core in the form of an elevator shaft and restrooms. It is based on footings and girders made of reinforced concrete. The installation shafts are made of concrete. The remaining partition structures are of UW and CW profiles filled with acoustic insulation and sheathed with plasterboard. In the rooms with sanitary facilities and kitchen equipment, ceramic tiles are glued to the walls. In the other rooms, interior plaster is used. The partition walls are wooden. The floors on the ground floor are 225 mm thick, on the upper floors 150 mm thick. In the main rooms of the café, bistro, co-working space, yoga studio and exhibition space, the flooring is supplemented with underfloor heating. The café, bistro and co-working area is fitted with a very easy to maintain polyurethane poured floor (light grey). Vinyl flooring (light oak) is proposed for the exhibition space and yoga studio to cushion any impact. The bathrooms are fitted with large format ceramic tiles. The vestibules have a floor layer of cleaning matting with strong brushing effects. Plasterboard ceilings are suspended from the reinforced concrete ceiling structure, which houses the ductwork, heat recovery and any electrical wiring. A ground-to-water heat pump is installed as the water heating and heating system in the building. The construction of the staircase is made of reinforced concrete with anti-slip coating and handrails on each side at a height of 900 mm. The staircase is located in a tempered space. The flat roof is extensive vegetation for undemanding plants (shrubs, ground cover plants) supplemented by a roof outlet from the stairwell. The flat roof is drained by roof drains to downspouts routed through the vertical column support structures to the foundation, where rainwater will be diverted to retention basins and used to irrigate adjacent green spaces. This also includes the design of safety overflows in the form of spouts. The attic is reinforced concrete, with aluminium cladding. The exterior terraces with wooden planks are also drained by drains. For safety reasons, the exterior staircase is fitted with a glass handrail with a stainless steel handrail at a height of 1 000 mm. The fillings of the interior openings are solid wooden doors, both single and double leaf. All exterior doors and lightweight cladding are of aluminium construction of clear room height. The lightweight cladding has a fixed triple glazing.
