The proposed four-year gymnasium is designed as a dominant architectural landmark that anchors the newly conceived urban square, creating a strong visual and functional connection with the surrounding city fabric. The building serves both students and the wider community by integrating modern educational facilities with accessible public spaces, including a school cafeteria and a sports hall open to the public. This dual-purpose approach ensures the gymnasium functions as a vibrant social and educational hub, fostering interaction and engagement beyond regular school hours. Thoughtful planning balances the needs of students with those of local residents and visitors, making the project a key element in the urban renewal and community development of Jesenice.

The proposed gymnasium in Jesenice is a modern educational and community center featuring classrooms, a school cafeteria, and a publicly accessible sports hall. The four-story main building primarily serves educational purposes, with the ground floor housing the entrance connecting the school to the cafeteria and leading to the underground sports hall. The main entrance faces a newly designed square, integrating the building into the urban fabric, while a secondary entrance provides direct access to a 36-space parking lot serving both school staff and visitors, optimizing usage throughout the day. Outdoor areas include an open gathering zone with benches by the main entrance, summer seating near the cafeteria, and a secure bicycle parking area separated from social spaces.
Technické informace
The gymnasium’s structural system is based on reinforced concrete load-bearing columns, providing a robust and durable framework for the four-story building. Complementing this, decorative wooden columns are incorporated into the façade design, adding warmth and visual interest while harmonizing with the surrounding environment. Additionally, wooden panels resembling window elements are used on the exterior, enhancing the building’s aesthetic appeal and contributing to a cohesive architectural expression that blends modernity with natural materials.
