Obnova staré školy ve Všechovicích
Idea projektu
The concept of the project was the revitalization of the former school in Všechovice, located in the village square at the very heart of the municipality. From an urban planning perspective, it is a key corner building that, together with the chateau and the church, forms the main landmark of the village. The result is a new administrative and community center housing the municipal office, building authority, and an exhibition hall dedicated to Bohuslav Fuchs, combined with a café. The design responds sensitively to the historical context and creates new public spaces not only for local residents but also for visitors.
Popis projektu
The design works with a modern approach to restoring the facade. In place of the original rusticated detailing, concrete fluted panels have been proposed, slightly projecting from the surface of the facade. Window and door surrounds have also been brought back in the design. As for the new annex, the facade is made of a glass curtain wall, with concrete panels used on the front side. Despite the contrast between the new and historic buildings, the proposed facade creates an elegant architectural connection. The basic layout is as follows: the basement contains technical facilities. On the ground floor, there is a library, reserved areas for a future medical office, and a ceremonial hall. In the annex, also on the ground floor, there are restrooms that are connected to the old part of the building. This floor also includes a café with an exhibition dedicated to Bohuslav Fuchs. The café and the exhibition space are connected by a spiral staircase across two floors. This area also includes an open gallery that visually links both floors into one whole. The second floor is intended for the municipal office, and the renovated attic will serve as rentable space. In the interior of the historic building, the original sculptures at the main entrance have been preserved and restored. The entire interior of both the annex and the historic building is designed in white and cream tones, creating a clean and airy atmosphere.
Technické informace
The building in question has a relatively well-preserved original structure of vertical load-bearing walls, which will be retained and supplemented with new surface finishes. The most significant change is the replacement of the roof truss, during which the roof pitch was increased to 35 degrees and the structural system was changed from a standing queen-post truss to a collar beam truss. Another major intervention is the removal of the original annexes. The new annex is designed as a structurally and statically independent structure, separated from the historic building by an expansion joint. Its load-bearing system consists of a monolithic reinforced concrete frame founded on micropiles. The annex is covered with a single-layer flat roof sloping to the north. The facade of the new part consists of a glass curtain wall with dark grey aluminum profiles, complemented by white fluted concrete panels. The original building will be newly plastered with white facade plaster.
