Project idea

The idea behind this project is to create a quiet architectural retreat that fosters a dialogue between the built environment and untouched nature. Inspired by the serenity of mountainous forests, the design responds to the need for minimal human impact while offering a contemplative space immersed in the landscape. It reflects a growing architectural consciousness toward sustainability, modular construction, and respectful integration into the natural terrain.

Project description

Minimalist timber structure set in a mountainous pine forest. Using a modular post-and-beam system, the building is elevated on slender wooden columns resting on natural stone footings. The design balances lightness with structural clarity, blending modern form with traditional techniques.
Large glass panels open the interior to the landscape, while metal tension cables support cantilevered elements, adding a sense of engineered elegance. The structure minimizes site impact, hovering lightly above the terrain and embracing the natural slope.

Technical information

The structure is composed of a modular timber post-and-beam system, prefabricated for efficiency and precision. Vertical elements are slender laminated wooden columns anchored on natural stone boulders for minimal site excavation. The floor and roof slabs are timber composite panels. Tension cables are incorporated for additional support in cantilevered sections. The façade consists of double-glazed low-E glass with aluminum framing, enhancing thermal performance while maximizing transparency.
