EKONOMICKÁ UNIVERZITA V BRATISLAVE

Idea projektu

The project aims to transform a dated socialist interior into a modern, multifunctional and inviting university space — a new ''repirium'' - student zone. Through the use of color, wood and metal, and enhanced lighting, the design creates a pleasant atmosphere that supports everyday student life. The layout encourages natural movement of people, with clear pedestrian flows centered around the core. Flexible seating and diverse spatial zones ensure everyone can find a comfortable place — whether alone, with friends, studying, or relaxing. The design also aims to broaden students’ architectural perspectives by integrating contemporary design approaches in a respectful yet innovative way.

Popis projektu

The chosen color palette is based on two main tones: green (PANTONE 348 C) and blue (PANTONE 7686 C), - these are the school colours. These colors are combined with natural materials such as wood and metal to create a space that feels both functional and warm. The spatial organization is designed to support natural pedestrian flow, guiding students from the entrance and central areas (where the dean’s office is located) toward the classrooms. The main circulation path loops around the core and diffuses into secondary corridors, ensuring fluid movement and accessibility. Lighting plays a key role in the concept. The existing space suffers from a lack of natural light and a small glazed area. Therefore, the proposal includes replacing current full doors with semi-transparent ones to improve light penetration. This addition of light not only visually enhances the space but also supports its daily functionality. Importantly, the design creates a space for everyone. Whether students are alone, in pairs, or in groups — introverts, extroverts, or ambiverts — the rstudent zonr provides zones where they can relax, have coffee, study, read, talk, or wait for the next class. The proposal is not only about improving everyday use of the space but also about exposing students to contemporary architectural thinking, expanding their perspectives on modern design values and approaches.
