Idea projektu

The proposed urban structure is based on a systematic approach using a basic grid of 10 × 10 meters. This grid is oriented according to two reference lines derived from the existing development in the area, ensuring harmony with the site’s character and respect for the urban context. Based on this grid, a block structure with 20-meter intervals was created, providing a flexible framework for further planning and allowing for a spatially dynamic layout. In the next phase, the blocks were divided into smaller units to better adapt the structure to diverse functional and spatial needs. These modular units were then integrated in a way that leaves room for adaptability and responsiveness to specific site requirements. The final phase of the design involved selectively omitting certain structures to create open spaces and establish connections with the surrounding environment. This process was enhanced by the integration of existing and newly introduced elements, contributing to a final structure that reflects a harmonious blend of functionality, aesthetics, and urban logic. The result is a design that respects the existing context while introducing a modern and modular approach to spatial planning.

Popis projektu

The design of student housing in the municipality of Villefontaine integrates modern urban planning principles, placing emphasis on quality of life, sustainability, and a harmonious connection with the existing environment. The core idea is to create a vibrant and functional living space for students that fosters community engagement, respects human scale, and incorporates greenery into daily life. The overall urban structure is based on a block layout, which allows for a natural division of space into semi-public and private zones. These inner courtyards are enriched with greenery and recreational elements, ensuring not only aesthetic value but also providing areas for relaxation and leisure activities.

Technické informácie

Transportation within the site is planned with a focus on ecological sustainability and effective connectivity to the broader infrastructure. Main collector roads connect the site to surrounding zones, while pedestrian and bicycle traffic dominate within the area. Service roads are minimized to limit car traffic in residential zones and enhance pedestrian safety. Strategically placed bus stops ensure access to public transportation and promote easy connection to the wider urban network. Greenery is an integral part of the design and is distributed in several layers. Mature park greenery forms the backbone of the area, connecting main residential zones with the surrounding landscape. Tree-lined pathways emphasize pedestrian routes and contribute to a pleasant microclimate. Courtyards provide semi-private green spaces for relaxation and community activities, while public green areas and squares are designed to encourage social interaction and host a variety of events. From a functional perspective, the built environment is designed to be variable and flexible. The core of the project consists of student housing units, complemented by communal spaces and zones dedicated to social activities. Ground floors along the main routes include retail and service spaces that meet the everyday needs of residents. The block structure also includes multifunctional buildings as well as facilities dedicated to sports and recreation. The urban concept for student housing in Villefontaine presents a comprehensive solution that combines functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability. Emphasis on ecological mobility, high-quality public space, and integration of greenery creates a harmonious environment that supports community life and responds to current urban and environmental challenges.
