RESIDENTIAL HYBRID SOUTH GATE OF PETRŽALKA

Idea projektu

The project proposes a hybrid residential building located at the southern entrance of Petržalka, a district of Bratislava, Slovakia. The concept is based on the idea of densifying the city’s periphery by integrating living, services, commerce, and public transport into a single high-rise structure. The aim is to create a strong urban node that defines a new local center and improves the quality of life in an underutilized area. The project explores the role of hybrid buildings as contemporary architectural tools to activate urban space, optimize land use, and support sustainable city development.

Popis projektu

The proposal addresses a complex urban situation at the edge of Bratislava by introducing a multifunctional vertical structure. The design includes residential units of varying typologies, public and commercial functions on the lower levels, a transport hub, coworking spaces, and recreational rooftops. The building serves as both a local landmark and a practical urban hybrid that connects the existing housing estates with new developments. The scope of the project includes urban, architectural, and typological solutions from territorial strategies to detailed apartment layouts.

Technické informácie

The building consists of 34 above-ground floors and 2 underground parking levels. Its structural system is based on a reinforced concrete core and a regular modular grid with spans of 8.1 × 8.1 meters, allowing for typological flexibility and clear structural logic. The facade features a double-skin glazed system, improving thermal insulation, acoustic performance, and overall energy efficiency. This double facade acts as a climate buffer zone, reducing heating and cooling loads throughout the year. Public and private circulation cores are designed to separate residential, commercial, and transport-related functions. The building integrates sustainable urban development strategies, including mixed-use programming, transit-oriented design, green roofs, natural shading, and prefabricated construction components to support long-term ecological performance.
