Idea projektu
The project presents a winery set in the heart of the Pezinok wine region in Slovakia, framed by the slopes of the Little Carpathians. The design connects wine production with public presentation, allowing visitors to trace the journey from vineyard to glass. Rather than dominating the site, the architecture emerges from it—linear timber structure follow the rhythm of vineyard rows, with a repetitive structural grid echoing the logic of the landscape. The use of traditional materials and forms, such as pitched roofs and wooden columns, is reinterpreted in a contemporary language, grounding the building in its local context while offering a modern experience. Key to the concept is the layering of indoor, semi-outdoor, and outdoor spaces. These transitions enrich the experience whether tasting wine in a sunlit restaurant, relaxing on a terrace overlooking the vineyards, or exploring the cellar’s stone atmosphere below ground.
Popis projektu
The architectural concept is based on the idea of a simple, clean line that respects the landscape while contrasting with the linearity of the vineyard rows. The above-ground massing is unified under a single gable roof clad in white corrugated metal, into which modular support blocks are inserted. These blocks house secondary functions such as guest accommodation, administration, and sanitary facilities, helping to organize the overall volume into a readable structure. The restaurant with terrace forms the central public space, open on three sides, it connects directly to the vineyard and serves for dining, wine tasting, and seasonal events. Guest rooms are accessed via a semi-public “living corridor,” a shared internal space designed for relaxation and framed views, offering visitors a quiet retreat within the building. Wine production takes place entirely underground. Visitors can engage with the process through visual connections at key points. Two distinct tasting rooms are located below: one open and modern, with views of the fermentation tanks; the other more intimate, set in a vaulted stone cellar with barrique barrels and a wine archive. These contrasting spaces provide different levels of sensory and spatial experience.
Technické informácie
The above-ground structure is designed as a timber frame system with paired wooden columns that define the façade rhythm and echo the planting pattern of the vineyards. The pitched roof is supported by a traditional wooden truss system, reinforcing the archetypal rural form. Stability and zoning are provided by cross-laminated timber core blocks. This system ensures efficient construction while emphasizing the use of sustainable, locally appropriate materials. The underground level which includes wine production, kitchen, and tasting rooms is built from reinforced concrete to meet technical and structural requirements. A layout ensures efficient operations, separating visitor and service flows while maintaining visual connectivity. The design uses combination of modern and local natural materials: natural wood, white corrugated metal, and exposed stone come together in a dialogue with the vineyard landscape, offering a timeless expression.
