Idea projektu
The proposed building is located at the important transport junction Trnavské Mýto in Bratislava, in the borough of Nové Mesto. The aim of the final design is to fill in a gap between an existing residential building and a student dormitory, thus completing the missing corner of the intersection. The proposed structure preserves the original underpass building and connects to it through its massing. The main idea was to bring visual transparency to the environment of Trnavské Mýto and evoke the sense that ordinary life continues behind the silent façades of buildings. The design introduces the function of a dance school for all age groups to the area. It also addresses the reconfiguration of the existing courtyard space.
Popis projektu
The architectural solution responds to the original underpass structure and fills the space between the two adjacent buildings. The final volume consists of three parts. The original building, topped by a terrace area, is visually linked by columns to the next section, which houses the dance halls and their supporting facilities. Above this, the third part features a recessed floor containing staff facilities and a rooftop terrace.
Technické informácie
All three parts are connected by a red steel staircase enclosed in a lightweight polycarbonate cladding. The façade of the original structure, along with the one facing the inner courtyard, is made of lightweight corrugated concrete panels by Panbeton. It is complemented by large windows at the building’s entrance and on the recessed floor. The façade of the middle section, oriented towards the Trnavské Mýto junction, is composed of a translucent lightweight cladding system Danpatherm K12 made of polycarbonate.
