Idea projektu
Villefontaine represents an experimental concept in urban and architectural design. It combines modern forms of housing, community living, and environmental principles, while exploring new approaches to the design of residential, public, and communal spaces. The proposal, based on the principle of "scattered urbanism," dynamically responds to user needs while respecting the local context.
Popis projektu
Urban Design The central axis of the site is a pedestrian promenade, connecting different parts of the complex and serving as a space for gathering and relaxation. It is complemented by small plazas and natural elements, which help create a setting conducive to community life. Ecological principles are incorporated through systems for rainwater harvesting, solar energy use, integrated greenery, and a dedicated cycling path. The number of parking spaces is intentionally limited to promote sustainable mobility.
Technické informácie
Architectural Design and Technical Parameters The foundation of the project is a system of modular units, each measuring 3 × 6 meters, prefabricated from concrete and installed into a steel structural frame. Each module includes its own sanitary facility, a clear height of 2600 mm, 200 mm-thick walls, and a French window. A distinctive element is the translucent polycarbonate shading, which protects from solar radiation, allows natural light to pass through, and gives the buildings a modern aesthetic character. The modular buildings are designed as three- to four-storey structures, with the ability to expand flexibly over time. The project includes three types of apartment buildings—two exclusively residential and one with ground-floor services, such as cafés, coworking spaces, and small shops. Other structures include study rooms, snack bars, a fitness center, and landmark buildings like a library and gallery dedicated to showcasing knowledge about wood and culture. A key feature of the proposal is the "prototype village," which presents outcomes of student work, along with an existing building used for woodworking education. These spaces support local traditions and enable experimental exhibitions. This project is more than just a housing complex—it is an architectural and urbanism laboratory exploring the future of living and community life. This experimental approach creates a unique connection between modern architecture, the local environment, and societal needs, giving Villefontaine the character of a progressive and sustainable place.
