Idea projektu
In my design, the original building of the former boiler house is transformed into a nightclub. This new function proves to be optimal for several reasons. First, the operating hours of the nightclub do not overlap with those of the existing PRABOS factory, which minimizes potential conflicts in day-to-day operations. Secondly, the location plays a key role — placing a noisy facility like a nightclub within an industrial zone, far enough from residential areas, helps eliminate any negative impact on local residents. An additional block is attached to the eastern side of the existing former boiler house. This new volume is both structurally and visually separated from the original building. The main entrance is located on the western side, near the chimney, while a secondary entrance for deliveries is situated on the southern side of the new extension. Most of the original structural elements are preserved, with plans for their thermal insulation. The proposal also includes the construction of a parking lot with a total capacity of 33 spaces, three of which are designated for visitors with limited mobility. A smaller parking area with 6 spaces is planned directly in front of the nightclub for taxi services. The design also incorporates the development of paved surfaces throughout the entire site.
Popis projektu
Just beyond the main entrance to the building is a lobby area that includes a staffed cloakroom, restrooms, and an elevator. Behind the cloakroom, there is an office, a technical room, and a storage area with its own separate side entrance and a dedicated service elevator. This floor also houses facilities used by the PRABOS company — specifically, the gas boiler room, electrical switchgear, and transformers 1 and 2. A staircase runs along the western wall, providing access to the second floor. The entire building is connected by an elevator. On the second floor, the main dance floor is located along with a bar, restrooms, a cleaning room, and a storage space. Behind the bar is a staff area, which includes employee restrooms and a stockroom that is vertically connected to the first floor via a service elevator. This level also contains a low-voltage switchgear room used by PRABOS. The third floor features a newly constructed guest balcony, restrooms, and artist facilities. The main stage for performers is positioned between the second and third floors. It is accessible from the corridor near the restrooms. From the stage, there is also access to the sound and lighting control area, allowing for efficient technical operation during events. The fourth floor is designed as a VIP lounge, equipped with its own bar and private restrooms, offering an exclusive environment for visitors seeking a higher level of service and comfort.
Technické informácie
The original structural system of the building consists of steel IPN and UPN profiles. The newly added extension uses the same type of profiles but functions as an independent structural system, separated by an expansion joint from the original structure. The new interior walls are designed using YTONG aerated concrete blocks of varying thicknesses, while the design aims to preserve as many of the original walls as possible. The entire building will be insulated to improve its energy efficiency. The exterior of the original building will be clad in brick to emphasize its industrial character, while the new extension will feature dark grey aluminum cladding, creating a strong contrast and giving the addition a contemporary appearance.
