They have a place to play!

The need for a kindergarten, which is located on the western edge of the platform, emerged from the urban study of the newly built development. I am proposing a kindergarten on the edge of a populated plateau so that it makes maximum use of the natural eastern sunlight and the allocated large grassy area. The building is single-storey and designed as a wooden structure, it is a combination of transverse and longitudinal wall systems. The kindergarten contains four classrooms of 168 m2, a rentable gymnasium, a kitchen, offices and a spacious glass entrance atrium. Parking for employees and children's parents is planned in the unfinished building of the apartment building north of the kindergarten. The kindergarten is surrounded by a grassy area with small trees and a large pedestrian arch. Everything is intended so that the children of the new residents of the proposed platform will have a kindergarten within walking distance and that their childhood on the inhabited platform above the trucks will be nice and positive. THEY HAVE A PLACE TO PLAY!

The territory addressed by my project is part of the complex urban concept Metamorphosis of Hostivice, which intensively affects the present state of the complex. The project is based on an urban study that tries to transform the logistics area of the halls in such a way that it utilizes its hidden potential. The project consists in the reconstruction and strengthening of two existing logistics halls. All logistics traffic is directed between these two main halls and the halls are thus fully functional and operational. At the level of their roofs, a superstructure of a large platform is proposed for these buildings - a platform that will overlap the halls and all their operations and form one separate structural unit. It is intended to build a new development on this created platform containing residential and civic buildings, which together form a complete urban complex of the inhabited platform. The need for a kindergarten arose from the urban study of the newly built development. The kindergarten is located on the western edge of the platform in order to take full advantage of the open grass area available on this plot. The classrooms can thus be oriented mainly to the east and have direct access to the large garden. The concept of the entire kindergarten building is based on one central space - the entrance atrium - around which six other rectangular parts of the building are symmetrically arranged and connected, which are oriented from the center outwards. The entire mass is thus made up of seven imaginary parts – six rectangular masses and one entrance atrium. The individual rectangles are always connected to each other at the center of the object by partial arches, thanks to which the rectangular masses flow into each other and form a single whole. The building thus has the shape of a uniform semi-organic six-pointed star. Each individual rectangular mass represents its partially operationally independent part and each has a flat roof with a slope of 5.31% towards the center of the entire building. The spaces of the individual parts are thus very high and spacious, and the layout of the classrooms thus opens towards the garden. The entrance atrium has a sloping roof with a variable slope of around 25% and a large glazed skylight in the middle. This space is also very airy and naturally lit. The building contains 4 classes, where each class has an area of 168 m2. The classrooms are equipped with basic operational equipment such as: playroom, washroom, dressing room, storage and food delivery. The high clear height of the classrooms made it possible to design large windows, which will get a large amount of sunlight into the classrooms. The classrooms have direct barrier-free exits to the large garden. Outdoor toilets and storage rooms are part of the classrooms. In addition to the classrooms, there is also a gymnasium in another rectangular part of the building, which can be used both for the needs of the kindergarten and for the needs of the residents of the platform and Hostivice. In the last, sixth, rectangular part, there are offices with facilities for the director, housekeeper and teachers. There is also a waste room, changing rooms for employees and a kitchen with its facilities and storage. Everything is intended so that the children of the new residents of the proposed platform will have a kindergarten within walking distance and that their childhood on the inhabited platform above the trucks will be nice and positive. THEY HAVE A PLACE TO PLAY!

The building is designed as a wooden structure, and the design tries to show this fact in all spaces with its structural and material solutions. In all the premises of the kindergarten, the ceiling is without cladding, so the wooden roof support structure of the building can be seen everywhere in the building. Thanks to this, the interior of the building looks cozy and natural. However, for reasons of fire safety, the wall-bearing wooden panels have fire-resistant linings, which are mainly white plasterboard. Wooden ceilings together with white walls give the building an overall airiness, friendliness and create a maximally positive space for children. The kindergarten envelope is designed as a double-layered envelope. The perimeter walls and the roof thus have a ventilated gap. Above the main entrance and the secondary entrance from the garden to the building, a roof is intended, which is also rounded and materially flows into the rest of the building. All window frames, except for fire-resistant constructions, are designed from wood, which is painted in pastel pink color RAL 3015. The facade of the entire building is designed from Siberian larch planks, which are vertically mounted using black-colored aluminum anchors. With the help of wooden planks, thanks to their compositional flexibility, it is possible to achieve structural continuity in the bent places of the perimeter wall, which supports the mass uniformity of the entire building. Thanks to the wooden facade cladding and its low floor level, this vast wooden pavilion fits into its surroundings, which are mainly grassy areas with small trees and bushes. From the exterior, the object looks natural and natural.
