EN "What's a heap?" "...is it an oasis in the steel city?" "is it a boundary or rather an interface between zones in the area?" "how long will it take for nature to take back what human activity has taken from it?" The existence of heaps is neither a peculiarity nor an exception in Ostrava and its surroundings. However, for a person unfamiliar with the meaning of the term heap, these mostly overgrown hills may seem like an ordinary topographical formation. A slope, a plain, a peak, a valley. Places that seem to be struggling with the surrounding urban development that has passed them by and left them to their own fate. The very work with these sites and their possible uses, brings with it many questions, but usually too few certain answers. CZ „Co je to halda?“ „..je to oáza v ocelovém městě?“ „ je hranicí nebo spíše rozhraním mezi zónami v okolí?“ „ jak dlouho bude trvat, než si příroda vezme zpět, co jí lidská činnost vzala?“ Existence hald není v Ostravě ani v jejím okolí žádnou zvláštností ani vyjímkou. Avšak pro člověka neznalého významu pojmu halda se mohou tyto povětšinou zarostlé kopce zdát jako obyčejný topografický útvar. Svah, rovina, vrchol, údolí. Místa, která jakoby sváděla boj s okolním rozvojem města, který je oklikou minul a ponechal vlastnímu osudu. Samotná práce s těmito lokalitami a jejich možnosti využití, s sebou přínáší mnoho otázek, většinou ale příliš málo jistých odpovědí.
