STU Innovation Centre

Idea projektu

Our idea was to create a dominant and elegant building that is used for meeting, studying and relaxing. The main idea was to point out the views with a perforated white plate. We have created a minimalist building that does not disturb the surrounding buildings, but complements them. Another important point was the creation of many green areas throughout the campus and on the roof of the laboratories. We also focused on making the whole complex barrier-free so that everyone could make full use of it. We also wanted the spaces to be variable for all events.

Popis projektu

In our project, we tried to create a place for a new representative center, which would correspond both functionally and architecturally to its significance. It was necessary to combine several functions into one design. We used the part that was demolished next to the laboratory building as a place for our building, so that it could have an oblique shape, and views were created for us, which we highlighted with the help of the facade. The building is divided into eleven above-ground floors and two underground floors, which serve as a garage space for more than two hundred cars and there are also technical rooms. On the first and second floors there is an entrance area, which also serves as an information space. The third floor is fully open and has a raised ceiling to serve as an exhibition and multi-purpose space. On the fourth floor there is a presentation experience center for science and research, from which it is possible to enter the walkable green roof. An inner atrium is also created on this floor, which runs through all other floors. The fifth to eighth floors serve as the STU Innovation Center. On the ninth floor there are study rooms and a stationery store for students. From one of the study rooms, direct access to the tenth floor is possible thanks to the design stairs, on which there is a seating area for students. On the tenth floor there is a canteen and a manufacturing center, which is partially connected to the Rector's Office. The top floor is dedicated to the STU Rectorate. The whole building is designed as barrier-free. Part of the project is the solution of the surrounding environment, in which new greenery and paths connecting individual faculties are designed. On the ground floor there are seating and relaxation areas. We also designed a café in the laboratory building.

Technické informace

We used a prefabricated system. It consists of concrete columns. The core of the building is reinforced by an elevator, stairs and toilets. The rest is designed as an open space. The facade is a steel and glass structure. A perforated white plate is attached to it. We mainly use concrete, wood and white metal in the whole complex. On the first floor, we created a spiral wooden staircase and glass elevators. The railing is also made of glass. We use more types of greenery throughout the building. The facade of the laboratory building has been replaced. It is made of glass and copilite boards. The roof is designed as a walkway with green areas.
