CAMPUS STU INNOVATION_INSPIRELI COMPETITION 2020/2021

The goal of the competition is to obtain ideas for a representative centre of STU with conditions such as economic aspects, possibility of phased-realization, innovativeness, cooperation of the professional and academic environment, communication with public. An important part of our design is a sense of respecting the original existing architecture in the campus area. We aimed to refresh the existing space with adding a touch of contemporary architecture, focusing on functionality of every individual part of the campus. Project is designed with possibility of realization in different phases where the sequence of individual phases is optional, based on different aspects and preferences, such as realization pace (due to prefabrication level and more), economical parameters of the amount of impact to the area. The primary inspiration was the technical field by itself. Technical education especially goes with innovative mind, which is preceded by brainstorming. We as students at technical university such as STU work with this mindset and attitude every day. This led us to leave many folded or crumpled paper behind us. And the mentioned crumpled paper is just that essence of every project, as well as this Inspireli one.

Our vision was to divide the project in different parts to provide phased realization. We ended up creating more individual components in the campus. These parts can be realized independentely to each other. The design is focused on bringing new contemporary architecture into the area, but also pays attention to the historical context of the surrounding environment. The design includes: • Laboratory building innovation • New school entrance, lobby and passage • Chillzone • Green alley • Underground parking • Cafebar and gallery • Many small elements in the areal

We considered historical character of the buildings as well as their technical attributes and the construction itself. The goal was to utilise some of the existing constructions, such as an underground parking space, which we transferred into a cafe bar embedded into the ground or respecting the skeletal structure of building while creating a completely new entrance and lobby. We tried to connect both fields - art and engineering, which is visible on a clearly noticeable raw construction of Chillzone or Laboratory building facade, while using an artistic element representing paper texture throughout the whole campus. Other important priority was prefabrication and following modular realization, so that the installation does not disrupt the schooling and service in campus. Most of the elements in our design are modular, detachable, and relocatable.
