Sports & Recreation Facility

The goal of this study proposal is a multifunctional building including a restaurant, sports center and facilities for the adjacent beach and recreational resort. The multifunctional house is set in a south-facing sloping terrain in order to influence the landscape of the Divoká Šárka nature park as little as possible and only functionally support the intended transformation of the surroundings from today‘s poor state.

The overall shape of the building is based on the conceptual solution of newly constructed buildings in other parts of the Džbán area and helps to create a natural divide between urban city development and the Divoká Šárka nature park. The building has four floors, the underground floor and the second above-ground floor serve only as a technical floor without public access. The first floor of the building is built into the slope of the northern slope of Džbán, so only the front south wall is visible. The third (second for the public) floor is located only above the middle part of the building. The building has two main entrances, one leads directly south to the beach from the central entrance hall, the other is for pedestrian access from the metro in the eastern facade, where there is also the entrance for the kitchen supply and the entrance of the electric bus to the building. The final stop of the electric bus, that connects the building with the nearest metro station Nádraží Veleslavín, is at the entrance hall, where the reception and cash desks are located, as well as the entrance to the sports center, beach, buffet and restaurant. In the sports center there is a boulder with a climbing wall extending to the second floor, a gym and a skate park with an outdoor area. The locker rooms are separate and also contain the coaches' facilities. Other separate large changing rooms are common and serve for the outdoor beach, they contain changing cabins, lockers and sanitary facilities. The buffet is accessible from the entrance hall and directly from the beach and is connected to the outdoor chillout zone. On the third floor there is an a la carte restaurant and an outdoor bar. The restaurant and the buffet have a common kitchen. In terms of materials, the building is mainly characterized by a southern glazed wall, which is protected from unwanted solar gains by a large overhang of the roof and on the 3rd floor by outdoor blinds. The face of the building also lends itself to a white steel-concrete colonnade serving as an outdoor supporting structure. The roof of the building is designed as a walkable green roof following the slope above the building.

The main structural system is a reinforced concrete monolithic, skeleton supplemented by a stiffening wall system, and on the south side, an outdoor bearing system made of rows of subtle steel concrete columns. The ceilings are reinforced concrete, partially additionally prestressed.
