MATTERHORN MOUNTAIN HUT

The concept of the building's shape is based on two "separate cubes" that are cantilevered over each other, allowing a portion of the building to be offset from the adjacent slope and provide better views. By cantilevering the lower cube, a space was created on the level of the second floor, where an outdoor terrace was located. The main goal was to orient the front wall, along with the terrace, towards the southeast direction, facing the valley.

The building layout is designed to be simple and mostly rectangular. The ground floor consists of entrance areas with a spiral staircase that connects all three above-ground floors, the building's facilities, and the accommodation section. The second floor houses a dining area with a terrace, a food preparation area, and the accommodation section as well. The third floor is exclusively for accommodation purposes.

The building is structurally designed as a precast monolithic structure. The outer wall of the upper part of the building consists of precast concrete panels on each side, with thermal insulation and a cast-in-place concrete core. The facade of the building is made of exposed concrete combined with black metal cladding to create contrast and harmonize the building with the surrounding terrain.
