Apartment building Ostravského

The aim of the project was to design an apartment building to complement the block of buildings and complete the corner. The site is more complex in shape, so to fill it I designed a building and behind it a courtyard where I placed greenery and a multi-purpose playground. To enliven the shape of the building I designed platforms on the roof that are used for recreation and leisure activities and allow views of the city of Prague. The platforms are placed on supporting columns that extend above the roof level. The roof also serves as a park as it is planted with greenery. To accentuate the corner of the building, I designed the terraces as a vertical garden, so that each apartment has a view of the plants in addition to the city.

he building is designed in such a way that part of the ground floor contains commercial premises, individual entrances and technical rooms, a passage to the yard and an entrance to the garage. The garage floor plan covers the entire plot so that each apartment has a parking space. The individual apartments range in size from studio to four bedroom apartments, each with its own terrace or balcony. The roof can be accessed via the main staircases from each part of the building.

The structure is mainly made of monolithic reinforced concrete columns and ceiling slabs. In places where windows could not be placed, I supplemented the structural system with load-bearing walls. The garages are formed by load-bearing walls around the perimeter and then there are load-bearing columns with spans of 7.5m.
