Nový objekt Parohatá - ZOO Brno

The basic concept of the design is based on the positioning of the site in relation to the cardinal points and also on working with the surrounding terrain. The idea behind my design is to create a small and unobtrusive building. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to create two separate buildings that would contrast but achieve a common harmony. For the first object, I was aiming for a simple look. I used a gable roof and wooden panelling to give the building a 'country' feel. The second building is a simple block. The framing of the roof overhang and the terrace on the south and west sides of the building adds drama to the whole structure. The roof overhang itself also creates a partial roof over the terrace. I tried to spice up the simple white plaster used on the building with a wooden logo. The logo is placed on the corner so that we can see it immediately on arrival. An interesting feature of this building is the use of a wetland roof that serves as a root water treatment plant. Various plants will gradually grow on the roof, and for this reason the structure will be less conspicuous to visitors walking along the pedestrian route.

Two separate buildings are part of my design. The main building has one storey, which houses the staff facilities. The entrance to the facilities is on the west side of the building. In the backroom we can find two separate changing rooms with shower and also two separate toilets. There is also a technical room, and lastly a day room with space for computer work. The second building is unheated and therefore houses a hayloft and storage. The warehouse is used for storing the tools of the employees and feed for the animals.

The main vertical structural system consists of monolithic reinforced concrete walls. The ceiling structure is made of continuous reinforced concrete slab. The perimeter system consists of 300 mm concrete walls and 200 mm of thermal insulation. Partitions dividing individual rooms inside the building are made of plasterboard. The partitions are 100 mm thick. The materials used on the building are wood, glass, concrete and silicate facade plaster.
