Idea projektu

The studio assignment was to design a new concept for the swimming area in Libčice nad Vltavou, which is currently in an unsatisfactory condition. The idea behind the proposal is to create a flexible space that will offer opportunities for gatherings—not only for the residents of Libčice, but also for people from the surrounding areas. Thanks to the geometry of the design near the swimming pool, a central space will be created, separated from the street by buildings. These buildings will provide all the necessary facilities for the operation of the swimming area. The central space can be converted into a venue for open-air cinema or other events. Another key aspect of the concept is year-round operation, especially of the restaurant, which is also part of the proposal. The design also includes year-round use of saunas. The area will offer amenities for both adults and children. The proposal includes relaxation zones, a children’s area with a paddling pool, and also sports facilities, as there is a sports complex adjacent to the swimming area where a sports hall is planned to be built. This hall will include, for example, a climbing wall. One of the main advantages of the entire complex is its peaceful location, which could potentially become the new center of Libčice. The site is also surrounded by mature greenery, offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. As part of a different studio project, only the bistro building was addressed, specifically its structural design.

The entire complex includes a bistro building, facilities for the swimming area, an outdoor pool, and a building designed for the local elementary school, intended to be used as an outdoor classroom. The complex also includes a sports hall; however, this building was not directly addressed within the scope of this studio project. The total area of the site is approximately 23,000 m².

Technické informace

TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTION - As part of the structural design studio, a single-storey bistro building within the swimming complex in Libčice nad Vltavou was developed. - The building was designed in two structural variants. - The first variant (working title: CLT) is based on cross-laminated timber panels of the NOVATOP system. - The second variant (working title: 2x4) is designed using a timber stud-frame construction system. - Both the NOVATOP panels and the stud-frame structures are designed with an emphasis on ease of assembly and a high degree of prefabrication, which reduces construction time. - Both variants are combined with a heavy timber frame structure. - The heavy timber frame, made of glued laminated timber (BSH), serves as the primary load-bearing structure. It allows for large glazed areas while ensuring sufficient strength and stability. BISTRO BUILDING - The single-storey building features a partially walkable roof, which is accessible via an external steel staircase. - The remaining part of the roof consists of an extensive green roof, which contributes to improving the microclimate, reduces thermal load, and supports rainwater management. The vegetation layer is designed to require minimal maintenance. - The building is designed to meet current standards for passive houses. - The timber construction provides excellent thermal insulation properties. Special attention is given to the detailing to ensure maximum durability. - The construction largely uses natural and renewable materials, minimizing the carbon footprint of the building process. - The overall concept of the structural and technological solution reflects a modern approach to timber construction, combining high aesthetic value, sustainability, and functionality. - The flexibility of the structural systems allows the building to be adapted to the needs of the investor; therefore, it has been designed in two construction variants.
