This project is a poetic and deeply human response to the disconnection often seen in contemporary domestic architecture. Grounded in Christopher Alexander’s philosophy, the design embodies a profound attempt to rediscover meaning, rootedness, and emotional resonance in everyday living. By rejecting superficial stylistic trends and instead drawing from the cultural soul of Shahroud, the students delivers a home that feels both timeless and intimately personal.
The courtyard, tactile materiality and interplay of light and shadow evoke warmth and familiarity. Every spatial gesture from the sunken garden and water features to the nuanced transitions between public and private zones reflects care, emotion and a desire for wholeness. Technically, the use of brick, shading elements and passive ventilation demonstrates a solid understanding of climate-responsive design while reinforcing cultural identity.
This home doesn’t just shelter it nurtures. It is a living, breathing space that quietly restores the emotional bond between humans and the places they inhabit. A truly soulful piece of architecture.
