Our project is located on a site in a rich and diverse landscape of Croatia coastline with a complex topography that includes very steep slopes and valleys, and it is covered with a mix of native plants and vegetation, in a close proximity to Starigrad. It includes designing 3-story apartment buildings, each containing a maximum of 6 apartments with a couple of dual-key apartments, an above ground enclosed car-parking and shared swimming pool. An acute attention through analysis and design process was given to biodiversity through smart noise reduction through landscaping, embracing sustainability via hydropanels, use of local materials like stone and wood combined with glass and incorporating the topography. Our concept for design aims to enhance upon the cultural and communal aspects of the environment where human-to-human interaction and human to nature interaction. We dwell into visual connection and orientation dependent upon site views and sunlight to provide a comfortable interior micro climate. The user group is given the freedom to flexibly mold the spaces and to customize. This gives them a sense of authority over their shared space to create their own identity.

The project includes designs of a detailed plan of a 3-storey apartment building along with its landscape design. To depict the overall configuration of each individual building's orientation, the master plan has also been designed. The project design proposes two modules to enhance flexibility for users in terms of preference and affordability while also break visual monotony on the street. Both modules share some common features on the ground level including six car parking, changing rooms, showers, MEP room, entrance lobby, and a swimming pool facing the sea. Adjacent to those is an accessible central core protected by glass walls to enable visual connection. It transports the residents unto the spreading wings of the building where the apartments rest. In the first module, the upper floors have repeated layout with projected balconies but second proposal has rotating floor plates to achieve different visual diversity while forming cantilever terraces on upper floors

Reinforced Concrete Construction was utilised as the structural system for both modules of these apartments. Its exterior form shall be built in concrete but clad with local limestone. Upon the facade, a green screen embedded with planters help add aesthetic and aid in preserving biodiversity. While the electric powered hydropanels coated unto the lattice structure help control humidity of the coastal Zardar region, enhancing the indoor air quality for the residents. Finally, supported by wooden trusses, the building installs Tesla solar roof tiles for electricity generation with varying skylights, slanted southwards to maximise sunlight.
