This proposal for the Rose Garden Palace is a deeply thoughtful and culturally resonant vision that honors Dhaka’s historical legacy while boldly reimagining its future. By transforming a neglected landmark into a dynamic museum and cultural center, the design does more than preserve a building—it rekindles a narrative of identity, pride, and community connection.
The approach demonstrates a strong understanding of experience-driven design, offering immersive and educational opportunities that move beyond static displays. By weaving interactive exhibits, traditional Bengali cuisine, workshops, and inclusive programming into the spatial fabric, the project becomes not just a place to visit, but a place to belong, learn, and return to.
Architecturally, the integration of colonial and Bengali motifs—paired with a respectful landscape revival—successfully evokes the layered history of the palace. The careful attention to sustainability and accessibility shows a commendable commitment to future-proofing the space while ensuring it remains welcoming to all. Technical strategies like greywater recycling, glass block daylighting, and smart ventilation through courtyards strike an impressive balance between heritage conservation and modern performance.
For further development, visual tools such as comparative diagrams of “past and proposed” site use, or narrative timelines embedded into the spatial journey, could elevate the storytelling aspect even more. Nonetheless, this is a beautifully considered, community-oriented, and technically grounded proposal—one that has the potential to restore not just a building, but a collective cultural memory.
Thank you, Adnin Tazry, for this inspiring contribution, and congratulations on an ambitious and impactful design vision!
