The idea of this project is that a private house has a purpose. It is designed for a winemaker. A person of this profession needs to have a place to store… more
Hi Ksenia,
I hope you're doing well.
I’ve carefully analyzed your project and I sincerely congratulate you on your work. I especially commend your graphic presentation and the way you’ve tackled the challenge of designing a house that is far from ordinary—connecting it with a wine cellar in a very unique context.
Architecturally, you've handled the house in the best possible way, making an effort to respect the local context by using regional materials and giving the house a strong identity. The use of these materials contributes positively to the sustainability of the house, even though you haven't emphasized that aspect directly.
The feedback I’m sharing concerns only the functional aspect of the house, and I encourage you to take these as suggestions that might help improve your already strong project.
One of the initial issues I identified concerns the vertical comunicat, which is currently divided across three separate zones. A more functional solution might involve connecting the basement—particularly the wine storage area—to the main staircase located near the entrance. This intervention would not only streamline internal circulation but also offer the possibility to expand the kitchen area.
Additionally, the kitchen should ideally be positioned in close proximity to both the dining area and the auxiliary pantry. Relocating the staircase that leads to the basement would allow for a more efficient spatial arrangement, enabling the dining and pantry areas to continue close to the existing kitchen layout.
It is also worth noting that the bathrooms appear relatively large in proportion to the bedrooms. In my view, it would be beneficial to reconsider their dimensions in order to allocate more space to the bedrooms. Furthermore, the bedroom located on the ground floor would function more effectively if accessed directly from the entrance hall, allowing for a more rational and organized interior configuration.
Regarding the ground-floor living space, removing the dining area and pantry from this zone would enable the formation of a single, unified living area with improved spatial clarity and experiential coherence Finally, the staircase leading to the loft-level lounge could be reconsidered as a straight flight. Given the spatial availability, such a design would be feasible and, from an interior design perspective, would allow the staircase to be experienced as a sculptural element—elegantly suspended along the wall.
Once again, I congratulate you on your work and I hope that some of my comments may contribute to the improvement of your current project or those you will develop in the future.
Best regards,
Lendrit
