This student housing project is designed with a focus on creating a community-oriented environment that fosters social interaction while ensuring individual privacy. The design draws inspiration from the local Mediterranean context and utilizes concrete as the primary material, providing durability, longevity, and a modern aesthetic. The space is conceived to offer flexible and functional accommodations with ample natural light and ventilation. Communal areas, such as terraces, study rooms, and relaxation zones, ensure connectivity among residents and support student life. The project emphasizes sustainability through energy-efficient solutions and the integration of greenery.

The student housing is designed as a multi-storey building with a clear and functional layout that supports the comfortable life of students and their interaction with each other. On the first floor there is a main entrance hall with a reception, which also serves as an information and security point for the entire building. This is followed by a café, which creates a natural social center of the building and functions as a place for informal meetings, study and relaxation.

On the second floor there are student rooms, which are designed as separate units or cells with shared bathrooms and kitchenettes. There are also shared kitchens, study rooms for individual and group work and a terrace that provides an outdoor space for relaxation and social activities.

The same layout – i.e. a combination of accommodation units, kitchens, study rooms and terrace – is repeated on the other floors, which allows for flexible operation and ensures an even distribution of common areas throughout the building. The layout is designed to support a balance between privacy and student community life.

The student housing building is designed as a reinforced concrete skeleton with infill masonry, which ensures stability, durability and flexibility of the internal layout. The facade of the building is white, which contributes to the bright and clean expression of the building and at the same time helps to reflect sunlight in the hot Maltese climate. Climbing greenery is unevenly distributed along the facade, which naturally shades the building areas, improves the microclimate and at the same time creates a pleasant visual revival.

The shape of the building is simple and rectangular, adapted to its corner location at the intersection of Triq il-Qantar and Triq il-Keffa. The corner is not rounded - on the contrary, it has a pronounced edge, which gives the building a solid and modern expression. The regular shape of the building is disrupted by rhythmic balconies and terraces, which add dynamism to the facade. The architectural solution is based on clean lines, simple volumes and a functional logic that corresponds to the needs of student housing and the Mediterranean environment.
