The "Confluence of Society" project reimagines the underutilized space beneath Prague's Radotínský Bridge as a vibrant, flood-resilient residential community. Elevated housing blocks are supported by concrete cores, allowing for uninterrupted public space at ground level. The design draws inspiration from the meandering forms of the nearby Vltava and Berounka rivers, incorporating curved pathways and green spaces that foster a harmonious relationship between the built environment and nature.
Constructed primarily with cross-laminated timber (CLT) and clad in Siberian larch, the buildings emphasize sustainability and warmth. Each block offers a mix of private apartments and communal amenities, including coworking spaces, terraces, and recreational areas. The modular design allows for adaptability, with variations in facade color, orientation, and height responding to the bridge's structure and surrounding landscape. This thoughtful approach transforms a neglected urban area into a cohesive community that celebrates both social interaction and environmental context.
