This project stands out as one of the most professionally presented and thoroughly studied designs showcased on this platform. The redevelopment of the Gulshan DNCC market into a vibrant civic center is not only timely but also aligns strongly with urban planning goals set by the Dhaka Structure Plan 2016–2035. The integration of civic, cultural, and commercial components into one cohesive design demonstrates a clear vision and a deep understanding of urban dynamics and community needs.
The planning is well-articulated, with thoughtful programming that supports inclusivity and community engagement. The strategic use of recessed forms, operable louvres, and façade greenery to manage heat gain and optimize thermal comfort reflects a sophisticated application of passive design principles. These architectural decisions elevate the building’s sustainability profile and show attention to long-term usability and environmental impact.
The design documentation, from conceptual development to technical detail, is clear and well-supported. Among the highlights are the compelling diagrams, drawings, and written narratives, which together communicate the project with clarity and depth.
One area for improvement would be the lighting in the interior renderings. Enhancing the lighting could significantly improve visual communication, bringing more clarity and mood to the space and preventing the renders from appearing overly dark. A bit more play with natural and ambient lighting would further elevate the already high quality of the visuals.
This is a compelling and impactful proposal that not only showcases strong design sensibility but also contributes meaningfully to the discourse on sustainable and community-centered redevelopment.
Thank you, Tahiya Tabassum, for sharing such an impressive piece of work.
