The "Masters Thesis Project" focuses on revitalizing a former glass and metal factory in Hartford, Connecticut. The design proposes subdividing the industrial space to accommodate multiple small businesses, fostering an ecosystem of innovation and collaboration. By integrating a makerspace and a train station, the project aims to enhance material transportation and connectivity, supporting the growth of these enterprises.
The adaptive reuse strategy includes the addition of a new roof design and the use of flexible, in-house 3D-printed glass and metal wall panels, allowing for customization by each occupying company. This approach not only preserves the historical essence of the building but also introduces modern, sustainable practices. The project's emphasis on community engagement and sustainable development positions it as a model for reimagining industrial spaces in urban settings.
