The proposal offers a considered and deeply researched intervention in the historic district of the city of Nizhny Novgorod. The proposal shows a clearly informed approach to the concept of urban memory, which reinterprets the late 19th-century brick architectural heritage of the city in a meaningful way that uses more modern techniques of construction to achieve a successful reworking of that heritage. The proposal also shows a high level of contextual concern, which makes it a convincing addition to the existing cityscape.
One of these would be to further optimize the public-private transition on the ground level. Improvements in the use of thresholds to enhance interaction and still provide privacy for residents could be explored.
